Falmouth Street Food and craft Ales Festival

Living in Cornwall at this time of year is great if you’re a foodie, or just a person who likes to eat in general (I’m going to include pretty much the entire population of the world in this sweeping statement).

So, grab your food buddy and experience the thrills of the Falmouth Street Food and Craft Ales Festival with your eyes…

Our fist stop was the Cornish Venison Co who I see at every food thing I go to.  This was, however, my first taste of one of their burgers. My food buddy had (gasp!) been to the festival the day before and had the venison cheese burger so we went for the duck cheese burger instead…

Thumbs up for melty cheese

These guys were super friendly too and cut the burger in half for us, which was great for Steven as he didn’t have to wait for me to photograph the food before he could eat!

(If you follow my Facebook you will see just how happy I was to be tucking into this bad boy!) This burger was amazing and made me question my rule of sharing the food – I could have easily eaten the whole thing, twice. Next time I will definitely go for the venison burger, it has to be done!

Unfortunately as we were both driving to this festival we couldn’t sample the ales (must prepare better).

No Korev today (I know, not an ale but still…)

Our next stop was Slice Pizza Cornwall  whose pizzas Steven had been raving about – especially the onion bhaji one. However there was a chilli prawn on the menu and as he’d chosen the last burger I won (wooo, prawns are one of my favourites!)

This pizza was great, and not too spicy. Whilst we ate there was some live music on in the events tent – which made the experience even better.

This festival wasn’t as big as Porthleven Food and Music Festival and maybe because of this we weren’t running around scoffing food down as fast as possible so we could get to the next stall. So we began to feel full.

We then went on to break one of our food festival rules (which you can find here if you like) when I saw the Jumunjy Thai Street Food stand. I had to have some Phad Tahi – I could live off this stuff. Steven had his eye on the nachos from Just Pigs Cornwall, whose pulled pork is to die for. We didn’t have room for both so we split up and had our own food for the first time in years.

I know I’ve mentioned this is previous posts but I love talking to people at these things – the stall holders are so friendly and knowledgeable its just such a great way to find out more about what you’re eating, and in my mind that just makes it more tasty!

After being defeated by the food we took the time to just enjoy the ambience of the day, look out over the harbour and just chill. This is one of the first events in the Fal River Festival and we shall definitely be returning next year (and not driving).
